Our Partnerships

We are grateful to have partnerships with many incredible organizations and businesses whose support is invaluable to us. Below find out more about our relationship with each and links to learn more.

United Way of Hastings & Prince Edward: United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is a community impact organization working to create measurable, long-lasting change through fundraising on behalf of dozens of local organizations. We have United Way funding for partial coverage of staff salaries. This funding is crucial to the running of our organization and we are grateful for their continued support. See all the great organizations in our region they fund and how you can help at unitedwayhpe.ca/whowefund

Second Harvest: Their Food rescue program prevents good surplus food from being wasted by collecting it and redistributing it to non-profits working to feed people in need. They do this in every province and territory, Second Harvest and its partners rescued and redistributed 95.3 M lbs of food in 2025. See more details at secondharvest.ca. Thanks to this program the NHCC receives generous weekly pickups of food here in Bancroft from No Frills, Foodland and Shoppers Drug Mart. We share some of this rescued food with those listed on our
Hub
page

Feed Ontario: The Feed Ontario network is a collective of over 140 direct member food banks and over 1,200 affiliate hunger-relief agencies that are passionate about ending hunger and poverty in Ontario. As members we have access to, and receive food donations, through their SNAP (Smarter Needs Allocation Program) food allocation program which allows us to sign up for offers of fresh food. The amounts offered are based on our hunger count numbers which are tracked through the Link2Feed portal tracking system. Along with food offers they collaborate with local farm organizations to allocate quarterly egg and poultry donations as well as a monthly donation of milk from Kawartha Dairy. The donations we receive through SNAP are shared by us with other food banks and programs, read more about who we support. Feed Ontario also offers members grant and funding opportunities, training, resources and events. As members in good standing we adhere to their guidelines of code, conduct and standards. You can learn more about Feed Ontario by visiting feedontario.ca

Food Banks Canada: Food Banks Canada collaborates with the food banking network to enhance capacity and support service delivery. Through funding, promoting best practices, data analysis and promoting standards, they are committed to ensuring no one in Canada goes hungry. We are currently finishing our Standards of Excellence which is their new accreditation for member food banks. Along with grants, policy advocacy and research, FBC also has specialized programs, like After The Bell, which we are part of in summer. Gleaners Quinte: Gleaner's Food Bank is our parent hub through Feed Ontario. Gleaners Food Bank was selected to set up a regional warehouse to efficiently bring food to the region’s food banks. Their Tri-County Warehouse receives local and corporate donations from across Canada through Food Banks Canada, the National Food Share System and Feed Ontario’s Snap Food Program. These donations are distributed to the region’s food banks based on annual Hunger Counts. The donations they share with us are part of what we pass along to others, learn about them on the Our Hub section.

Right To Food: RTF co-creates and supports Community Food Centres, learn more here: righttofood.ca/community-food-centres. They strengthen the community food sector by providing training, program models, knowledge sharing and funding. They advocate for policy change through national campaigns, local actions, policy tools and training. With 450 partners across the country, they strive to make the right to food a reality for all. As members of their Good Food Organization we are guided by their principles righttofood.ca/good-food-organizations/our-good-food-principles. Through this network we are provided access to knowledge forums, grant application opportunities, offers to take part in program trainings, we can gain access to tools and support for capacity building, advocacy, and more.

SIRCH Community Services: Once a week volunteers gather at their Haliburton Bistro and together with their chef they prepare thousands of nutritious meals annually. The meals are frozen and then distributed through health, community service and non-profit housing organizations in Haliburton County and North Hastings, the Community Cupboard being one of them. Prepared meals are essential for those with a lack of cooking skills, food insecurity, physical and/or mental challenges, illness, and the elderly. We receive meals bi-weekly from SIRCH that we distribute to our vulnerable clients who will benefit most from having them. Please visit them at sirch.on.ca to read about all the great things they are doing.

St. John's Anglican Church of Bancroft: Each Wednesday our Cupboard Cafe meal is prepared by Cheryl, a parishioner and dedicated volunteer of the church. Using mainly the ingredients we supply from above mentioned organizations, she makes amazing meals that allow our Meal Program Coordinator, and her volunteers, to focus on food prep for the other days. Cheryl has her Food Safe and the church kitchen is health unit inspected. Each week St John's holds the Bancroft Community Lunch for a nominal fee, follow them on Facebook Your Anglican Church North Hastings to see their calendar of events or connect to support them.

York River Public School: Thanks to the teachers and students of the Horticulture Club at York River Public School we are able to offer clients freshly harvested vegetables year round with tower gardens that we purchased through a grant as a Good Food Organization. These indoor grow towers stay permanently at the school where our youth are learning about growing healthy food while also learning to give back.
