Our Hub
Thanks to our partnerships with Second Harvest, Gleaners, Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada we are in a position to be a hub providing food to other organizations
Smaller rural food banks are challenged in obtaining adequate food supplies and also often have storage issues. We are doing our best to help with these unique challenges by sharing our food stock in increments each can hand out as needed. We also share with several programs when we get a bulk amount of something we know they can give to their service users. Read about each below.
Are you curious how all your donations stay here in Bancroft to serve our community yet, as a hub, we pass along food to help neighbouring food banks? Read here to learn about how our partnerships work to enable us to address the unique challenges faced by rural food banks
Coe Hill (Tri-Township Food Basket): Thanks to our partnerships with various food programs we are able to provide this food bank with a variety of fresh and shelf stable food for their clients. In 2025 we passed along 5,716.3 pounds of food to them.

Maynooth Food Bank: The Maynooth and Area Food Bank, operating out of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, serves a fair sized, underserviced, rural area and is run by a few dedicated volunteers. We set aside items for them to pick up when they can due to limited space. This little food bank does a lot with what they have to make sure families in their catchment area receive hampers.
North Hastings Non-Profit Housing: Woodview Lane has families living in geared to income units 2 blocks from our location. When we have extras that will be enjoyed by children in the complex we share them. We share treats and items for meal gatherings and kids parties. This summer we have also arranged to directly involve them in our After The Bell program from Food Banks Canada, see our partnership page to learn more.
North Hastings Children's Services: Once in awhile we are offered children's toys and craft supplies which we accept to pass along. We do not have the room to store them nor the ability to hand them out, we know the NHCS have many programs and services where these donations can be put to good use. www.nhcs.ca
Maggie's Resource Centre: Maggies provides services and supports for all women and children who have been victimized by violence. They provide safe shelter, advocacy, and education within a feminist perspective. Through United Way's Period Promise campaign we are able to share pads and tampons to give to their clients. We also share baby formula when we can. Learn more about Maggies
Bancroft Pregnancy Care Centre: Once in awhile we are fortunate enough to be given some baby formula and food, we pass this along to the Pregnancy Care Centre. During the holidays we purchase all our gift cards for our holiday hampers through the BPCC who receive a percentage from the sale. bancroftpcc.ca
Well-being North Hastings: Their mission and vision is to relieve poverty by supporting the provision of basic necessities and simple amenities of life to individuals, or families, who are experiencing poverty, are of low income, or are homeless in North Hastings. One way they help our communities most vulnerable is to make meals they delivery to encampments, back lot trailers and other places unhoused people may be staying to make sure they eat. We provide some meal ingredients, snack items and pass along socks, hats and mitts some of our donors want shared to those trying to survive without housing. Well-being North Hastings
Bancroft Warming Centre: We supply easy to serve snack and breakfast food items for this overnight shelter for unhoused individuals. The facility offers a safe, warm space during the winter with designated sleeping and seating areas. This space now operates year-round.
8th Fire Cultural Centre: As an Indigenous organization 8th Fire is dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities and enhancing their quality of life. Grounded in Anishinaabe traditions, the center focuses on cultural preservation, ceremonial practices, and community support. Several times a year we supply 8th fire with meal ingredients for gatherings and ceremonies. We also pass along any items we may have that they feel will help some families in need connected to their lodge.
Lifehouse Support Centre: Lifehouse has been supplying free laundry, an affordable lunch, hot beverages, a needle exchange program, and peer support services to marginalized people in need for seventeen years. They have limited space with a small freezer so we have given them smaller amounts of items to help with their meal.
SIRCH Community Services: Whenever we can we share some bulk ingredients that we receive through Gleaners and Feed Ontario to help them. Once a week volunteers gather at their Haliburton Bistro and together with their chef they prepare thousands of nutritious meals annually. The meals are frozen and then distributed through health, community service and non-profit housing organizations in Haliburton County and North Hastings. Please visit them at sirch.on.ca to read about all the great things they are doing.
